An honest review of Sukin Sensitive Night Cream

Sukin sensitive night cream review

My skin has always been incredibly sensitive, and finding a moisturiser that works for me has been a long and frustrating journey. Since childhood, I’ve struggled with dry patches and redness on my face, and these problems only intensified during my teenage years and early adulthood. I’ve experimented with a wide range of moisturisers, from popular drugstore brands to expensive dermatologist-recommended options, but none of them seemed to help. In fact, many of them made my skin sting and break out in even more red patches!

A few years ago, I developed an interest in holistic health and began examining the products I was using on my skin more closely. I made a conscious decision to try something new: skincare products that were predominantly made from natural ingredients. After some research, I discovered Sukin, an Australian brand that sells natural, cruelty-free skincare products.

Why I decided to try Sukin Sensitive Night Cream:

  • Developed for sensitive skin.
  • Made with natural ingredients.
  • Free from potentially irritating essential oils, such as citrus oils.
  • NO synthetic fragrances, artificial colours, mineral oils, petroleum, silicones, phthalates, or sulphates.
  • Made in Australia.
  • Recyclable glass packaging.
  • Cruelty-free and vegan.

My Experience with this moisturiser

While I was a student juggling late nights at the library with a skincare routine that wasn’t quite right for my sensitive skin, I discovered Sukin in a shop near my campus. The brand’s cruelty-free ethos, commitment to natural ingredients, and budget-friendly price caught my eye. After several weeks of consistent use, I noticed a huge improvement in my skin’s condition: my dryness, redness, and breakouts were replaced by a more balanced complexion.

No makeup! πŸ™‚

This is the first moisturiser I’ve found that truly works for my skin. I find it to be lightweight, hydrating and perfect for all seasons. During summer, the cucumber and aloe vera ingredients provide a cooling effect on the skin, while in the colder months it offers relief from dryness without causing breakouts.

Now, Sukin Sensitive Night Cream has been my sole evening moisturiser for over four years, and I can’t imagine using any other brand. It suits my dry/ combination sensitive skin well, and leaves my face feeling soft and soothed when I wake up. I’ve even recommended it to a family member with a similar skin type, and she’s become a loyal fan as well.

I’ve been using Sukin Sensitive Night Cream for over 4 years!

Sukin Sensitive Night Cream Ingredient breakdown

While you sleep, your skin’s natural barrier is at its most permeable, allowing for deeper absorption of product ingredients. This is why it’s especially important to choose a natural, nourishing night cream that won’t cause irritation or breakouts. I was very impressed with the ingredients used in Sukin’s Sensitive Night Cream – it’s clear that they’ve prioritised creating a product that’s gentle and effective for sensitive skin types.

Sukin Sensitive Night Cream Ingredients

After water (aqua), the second ingredient listed on Sukin Sensitive Night Cream is Aloe Vera (aloe barbadensis leaf juice).

Sesame seed oil is rich in several essential fatty acids which can help moisturise your skin.

Chamomile

Chamomile contains compounds with anti-oxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties which can help tackle redness and soothe sensitive skin.

Rosehip

Rosehip oil is high in vitamins and antioxidants which can help support the overall appearance and well-being of your skin.

This soothing effects of this night cream are a lifesaver for my skin on days where it feels tight and dry.

How much is Sukin Sensitive Night Cream?

Sukin Sensitive Night Cream costs Β£7.97 on Amazon, which I think is very fair price considering the number of natural ingredients it is made from.

How long does a jar of Sukin Sensitive Night Cream last?

I have been using this moisturiser almost every night for the past four years, so I believe I have a good idea of how long a jar lasts. Based on my experience, I usually go through two, sometimes three, jars per year. That means I only spend around Β£15.94 ($20.22 USD) per year, which is very reasonable in my opinion.

What does it feel and smell like?

Sukin Sensitive Night Cream feels silky-smooth and moisturising, with an almost whipped, wet texture. It’s not balmy, but thin and easily absorbed. Once on the face, it leaves your skin feeling soft with a little bit of slip to it. Most other moisturisers cause my face to sting during application, but Sukin is the complete opposite – it soothes and calms my skin.

It has a nice, natural scent that is a little bit like a mixture of halva, vanilla, and marshmallows. The smell is very, very subtle.

Sukin’s values

Sukin is an Australian company that is based in Melbourne and manufactures its products there. They pride themselves on creating their products without the use of petrolatum, synthetic fragrances, animal derivatives, artificial colours, harsh detergents , parabens, silicones, and more (check out the list in the image below!).

Sukin does NOT test on animals and is a cruelty-free and vegan company. They’ve been cruelty-free since the company was created in 2007. They also participate in carbon-offset initiatives, such as investing in projects that earn carbon credits, to reduce their environmental impact.

Is the packaging recyclable?

The jar is made of glass, and the lid seems to be made of PET plastic that can also be recycled (please check with your local recycling services to confirm). However, you might want to consider keeping the jars because they’re very handy! Once empty, they look great and can be reused for storing small items like hair ties and bobby pins like I’ve done in the image below. The glue can be a little tricky to remove, but I’ve created a tutorial on how to get labels off jars and used a Sukin jar to demonstrate if you need some help!

Will I be purchasing from Sukin again?

I’ve used Sukin Sensitive Night Cream for over four years, and I plan on continuing to use it for as long as it’s compatible with my skin. It’s a fantastic and reasonably-priced option for those seeking a natural moisturiser for sensitive skin.

Ad πŸ¦‹πŸŒˆ Butterflies can help you predict the w Ad πŸ¦‹πŸŒˆ Butterflies can help you predict the weather, according to folklore.

In Mid and West Wales, for example, seeing a gathering of a large number of white butterflies is said to be a sign that fair weather is on the way. πŸ› Meanwhile, in England, seeing brimstone butterflies among the spring flowers was thought to be a sign that poor weather is around the corner.

Butterflies are highly sensitive to changes in temperature and barometric pressure, which lowers before a storm or change in weather happens. β›ˆοΈ So, there's a scientific basis for the idea that they may indicate short-term weather changes. If they're seeking shelter, it's a sign that rain or harsh weather is on the way.

The beautiful blue butterfly ring I'm wearing in this video was kindly gifted to me by @fableengland . It's modelled after vintage natural history illustrations and is fully adjustable!

We've had a lot of frost and snow throughout February and in these first few days of March. It's incredible to see how these unassuming little flowers overcome the cold.

❄️ Snowdrops have anti-freeze proteins in their sap which keep their cells safe from freezing temperatures, and their leaves are specially-adapted to break through frozen soil or snow thanks to their hardened, pointed ends.

Legend has it that if you write a selfless wish on a fallen beech branch and tie it back to the tree, it might come true. This tradition is thought to have originated from the Celtic belief that beech trees have a direct connection to the Otherworld, so the words will be carried there.

It was absolutely enchanting to see these trees in the mist in the early hours πŸ‚

The Hunter's Moon will appear in our skies this October. It is the first full moon after the Harvest Moon, rising in the cool, clear nights that follow the autumn equinox.

Like the Harvest Moon, the Hunter's Moon was (and still is) a crucial light source for those working or travelling during the dark autumn nights.πŸ•―οΈOn moonlit nights like these, the Fae are said to emerge from their dwellings and come to the mortal world for rades or processions - especially near Samhain, when the Hunter's moon appears.

This pendant from @fableengland 's Autumn/ Winter collection perfectly captures the moon's glow at this time of year. It has a faux pearl centre that reflects light beautifully. 🌌

The Hunter's moon this year is on the 28th of October. πŸŒ™
